This paper investigates the book’s formal strategies, thematic preoccupations, and its positioning within Balle’s oeuvre and broader Nordic literary trends of the 1970s‑80s. By foregrounding the text’s treatment of temporality, gendered subjectivity, and linguistic play, the analysis demonstrates how Balle constructs a “volume of time” that simultaneously archives, displaces, and re‑imagines lived experience.
