Babli (Ranbir Kapoor) is a happy-go-lucky car thief raised in a Delhi orphanage run by a kind-hearted but strict couple (played by Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh — in real life, Ranbir’s parents). Babli believes stealing is fine as long as it’s for a good cause. He falls in love with Tara (Pallavi Sharda), a feisty radio jockey.

The main villain is a corrupt politician, Chulbul Chautala, who has stolen millions meant for orphans. Babli decides to rob him back, leading to a series of chases, comedy scenes, and songs. Eventually, Babli discovers that the orphanage couple are actually his real parents, who had to give him up due to Chautala’s threats.
