1. Overview and Purpose The Jeppesen Program and Data Disc (often simply called the Jepp Data Disc or NavData Card ) is a physical storage medium—typically a 3.5-inch floppy disk or CD-ROM—used to load aviation navigation databases and software updates into compatible GPS receivers, flight management systems (FMS), and multifunction displays (MFD).

Some units (e.g., Garmin GNS 530) require a first to update the firmware before the new Data Disc can be read. Failing to update the program may cause “Database Mismatch” errors. 6.
