Use Inkscape, CorelDRAW, or even MS Paint. Export as a 1-bit BMP (Black and White only). Do not use JPG or PNG. LaserDRW chokes on color profiles.

The software is set to MM, but the slider values are often interpreted as inches internally by older firmwares. Rule: If your 10mm square engraves as 10 inches, divide your target size by 25.4 inside the software.
