If you are working with legacy automation systems in China (or anywhere in Asia), you have likely come across the Siemens S7-200 CN . This PLC is a localized version of the iconic S7-200, manufactured specifically for the Chinese market.

While these units are incredibly robust and still running in countless factories today, finding the correct documentation can be a nightmare. You might have typed into Google a dozen times. Let’s solve that problem for good. What is the S7-200 CN? First, a quick clarification. The "CN" suffix indicates that the unit was assembled in China and, crucially, the stock firmware often defaults to Chinese characters for the system status messages. However, the hardware wiring, the STEP 7-Micro/WIN software interface, and the programming logic are identical to the standard S7-200 series.
